Wireless remote administration - an idea whose time has come
Many of us are familiar with the concept of remote administration which allows one to control his/her computer from any remote location. The distance can simply be of a room or it can run into miles. Remote administration does away the need for a person to be physically present near the PC to perform certain tasks. Remote administration simply requires the installation of remote access software. It can be used for accessing some software from the home PC, shutting down, rebooting, modifying/ editing system services or settings, control peripheral devices from a remote PC, etc. Already several companies has launched solutions for remote administration including RHUB Communications. If you are interested in knowing how remote administration can be beneficial to you then it would be a good idea to visit RHUB website at http://rhubcom.com
Building upon this concept is the Wireless remote administration which essentially means incorporating remote access software in wireless devices like Pocket PC, Blackberry, Palm devices or any other mobile phone. It can be implemented either by using an embedded application or WAP interface. The concept of wireless remote administration is still in its nascent stage. As of now, it does not provide the full range of services as other remote access softwares provide on PCs. Security is also a big concern. But still it allows the administrators to take a number of actions like setting/changing passwords, rebooting and checking system event logs. In the times to come, advancements in technology will help wireless remote administration to evolve as a more functional utility.
